Dave Insley’s fourth solo release Just the Way That I Am offers a thoughtfully crafted story-arc, exploring outposts of love, remorse, heartbreak, nostalgia, family, and hope, all set before crumbling backdrops of honky-tonks and hotel rooms. The album’s shuffles and ballads showcase Dave’s unique voice and songwriting, and the natural flow of his story-songs perfectly match his steady baritone.  Since 2013 Dave has performed every Saturday night at the White Horse, every Fourth Friday at the Driskill Hotel, and beginning in April 2020, every Thursday at the Sagebrush . All Dave Insley performances were suspended indefinitely beginning March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dave’s previous solo releases are West Texas Wine (2008), Here with You Tonight (2006), and Call Me Lonesome (2005).  He has lived in Austin, Texas for fifteen years, but his roots extend to the Arizona desert before that. Dave’s unique style has earned him a reputation as one of the Southwest’s most original artists, and one of the region’s most authentic country voices.

“The kind of set you have to drop everything and tell your pals about. A new book on Americana is now being written. Hot.”
